About Us: Social Responsibility
First Quarter HEI CARE Poster
Dear Fellow Associates,
Happy New Year! Can you believe it's been two years since we first rolled out the Social Responsibility program at HEI and introduced CARE?
A lot has happened since our associates in 41 locations have focused on the key areas of our CARE program. As I look back over the stories we have highlighted in these CARE posters, it is clear that we care about our fellow associates, we care about our communities, we care about our relationships with vendors, and we care about the environment. At HEI, we are making a difference.
Thank you for your involvement in CARE. We could not do it without you.
Warm regards,
Glenn Tuckman
CARE Committee

The Embassy Suites-LBV participated again this year in the "Teach In" at Pine Castle Elementary. Philip O'Brien, F&B Director, and Steve Treasure, Sous Chef, spent the morning decorating cookies with groups of first and third graders. The kids learned the importance of good math skills when following recipes and the need to wash their hands before handling food. Students decorated their own cookies with various toppings provided by the hotel.

Like many of our hotels, a highlight of the year is the annual Associate Children's Holiday Party. So much of what we do is for our children and its fun to see the joy this event brings to them. In Boston, the Liberty Hotel included stations where the kids could decorate ornaments, create jewelry and decorate gingerbread cookies. Pictured here is their reindeer (Bartender Juan Carlos Perez), princess (Convention Services Manager Jenna Pecoraro) and the Elf (Stewarding Supervisor Achraf Hosny).

There is no better place to build a relationship in your community than with a sister HEI hotel! The Marriott La Jolla and Hilton Mission Valley recently teamed up for their first joint volunteer outing with Habitat for Humanity. One of their projects was digging a hole in the 98 degree weather! The group had a great time, with everyone ending up very dirty, hot and tired.

For the past three years HEI has sponsored the sustainability class at Cornell University. The students in this program work in teams to solve real issues we have in our hotels. This year we invited the students to visit either the Westin St. Louis or the Boca Raton Marriott. Pictured here are Boca General Manager Cathy Zucker and her team at a reception she sponsored with the visiting students.
