Senior Team Leaders: Steve Mendell
Steve Mendell, Executive VP, Acquisitions and Development, is responsible for overseeing corporate
acquisitions, new investment and development opportunities and working with the company's management
team to implement value enhancement initiatives.
Professional Experience
Steve started his career in 1985 by co-founding HEI's predecessor, HEI Hotels. Steve was integral to
the company's $800 million acquisition programs. A 20-year industry veteran, Steve also co-founded
the London office of hospitality consultancy, HVS International in 1990, and currently serves as
chairman of its international operations (Europe and Asia). At HEI, his Acquisition and Development
team, recognized for its size, scope and high percent of closures, reviews as many as 100 deals
annually. Additionally, as President, HEI Hospitality Development Company, Steve oversees
development opportunities, including new construction, adaptive re-use and hospitality mixed-use
projects.
